As a brand designer, I get a lot of enquiries that start with ‘I think I need a new logo.’
After 10 minutes on a call, it becomes very clear – you don’t need a new logo. You need a rebrand.
I work with £150+ beauty, wellness and aesthetics founders who have regular clients, but their brand still looks DIY. I’ve worked with a few and know the pattern. It’s never just about being bored of your colours.
Here are the 5 real, strategic signs I look for that tell me you’re ready.
1. There’s a gap between your business and your brand
This is the number one sign. You started out DIY. It worked then. But now you’re charging £150+, you’re fully booked with regulars, and your skills are premium. Your current branding still looks like your day-one business. That visual gap is creating a trust gap. Premium clients won’t pay premium prices for a brand that looks beginner.
2. You’re attracting the wrong clients for the work you want
Your brand is doing the filtering for you – whether you like it or not. If you want to book high-ticket, low-maintenance, premium clients but you’re getting price-shoppers and last-minute cancellations, your positioning is off. Colour psychology, typography, and messaging are all telling the wrong story. A strategic rebrand fixes the filter.
3. You don’t have a brand system, you have random graphics
Here’s my designer test: If I removed your logo from your Instagram, website, and price list – would someone still know it’s you? If the answer is no, you don’t have a brand identity. You have inconsistent graphics. True brand identity is a system: fonts, colours, patterns, photo style, tone of voice. Without it, you’re forgettable – even with loyal clients.
4. Your business has pivoted, but your visuals haven’t caught up
You no longer do what your website says you do. You started with brows and now you’re all aesthetics. You offered everything and now you specialise in skin. When your business strategy changes, your brand strategy has to change with it. Otherwise, you’re confusing the very people you’re trying to convert to those higher-ticket treatments.
5. You don’t feel confident selling it
This is the one no one talks about. My clients will whisper it on discovery calls: ‘I’m actually embarrassed to send people to my website.’ When you lack brand confidence, you play small. You don’t pitch your new treatment. You don’t raise your prices. You hide. A brand that you are obsessed with makes you magnetic. It makes selling effortless.
So, is it time?
If you saw yourself in 2 or more of these, it’s not just in your head. It’s time.
And you don’t need a full rebrand tomorrow. You need to know what’s leaking first.
